THE TRIP TO PRIVATE LIVES

I visited the play Private Lives, with my husband on February 24th for the Matinee performance. At the Albery Theatre, in London. I had a wonderful time. After the play, I waited at the Stage Door. There were about 25 people there. It was raining, so we sheltered on the opposite side of the alley. After about an hour Lindsey Duncan came out. She signed programs and I asked her if she would sign mine. She smiled and did so. I told her I thought the play was wonderful. She smiled again and said "did you? great." as if it were an amazing thing, that people actually liked what she did.

Another quarter to half an hour later Alan Rickman appeared. He was wearing a long dark coat and hurried over to our side of the alley as it was still raining. He was extremely polite and posed for what seemed like hundreds of photographs. I passed him my program in the hope that he would get the idea, without me actually having to open my mouth, as it appeared to have become glued shut! He signed the program and I managed to find my voice. I said "Thank you very much" Orignal I know! He replied "it's a pleasure".

He was still there signing when my husband and I had to leave to catch our train. It was a fantastic day.
